Leanne Zuech – Lead Teacher

  • B.S. in Elementary and Kindergarten education with honors and distinction from Penn State.
  • Huge Disney World Fan!  I never went as a kid and now I’m like a kid when I’m there!
  • Love to run, read and hang out at our cabin in the woods.
  • I lived over seas and traveled extensively in my 20’s.  I’ve been on every continent except Antarctica.
  • Married with 4 children.

Kelly Thom – Assistant Teacher 

  • State College native
  • Married with 2 children (whom both went to Stay and Play)
  • Involved with Stay and Play for 16 years either as a parent, staff member or board member
  • Experience and professional studies in early childhood development
  • “I truly enjoy the fun-filled adventure of working with the cleverness and curiosities that children bring into my (our) life.”



Sharon Frost – Lead Teacher

  • Married with 2 adult children
  • Lives in State College
  • Been teaching for many years – this is her sixth year with  Stay and Play
  • Masters of Science in Education
  • “Being with and teaching young children is my passion and makes my life more brilliant.”


Zsuzsanna Reimherr – Lead Teacher

  • Married with 3 children (all attend Stay and Play)
  • Lives in State College
  • Returning to Stay and Play and the Rainbow fours after time off with her children.
  • Loves teaching and loves math!




Valerie Anderson – Lead Teacher

  • Has 2 adult children of her own
  • Lives in Howard on the family farm
  • Has a B.Ph. in Dance with a minor in Education
  • Been teaching preschool for many years –Taught at Saint Andrews before joining the Stay and Play family
  • Also teaches at her own dance studio for both children and adults
  • “Children are my passion. I love being able to be part of helping them develop into well-rounded little individuals.”


Roxane Miller – Assistant Teacher

  • Married with 3 adult children
  • Lives in State College
  • Been at Stay and Play for 18 years
  • Disney is my happy place

Susan Lee – Lead Teacherimg_4690

  • Married with 4 children (one son attended S&P)
  • Lives in State College
  • PSU grad with Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling
  • After several years in counseling and community mental health, she stepped back to start her family.
  • Volunteering in her children’s classrooms is where she caught the teaching bug.
  • She is very excited about her first year at Stay and Play.


Kendra Adkins – Assistant Teacher

  • Married with 4 children (all of which have attended S&P at some point – one is with us still)
  • Lives in Stormstown
  • Graduated from Virginia Tech
  • First year teaching toddlers in a formal setting and very excited to be part of the S&P team

Melissa Pike – Lead Teacher (M-F)img_4799

  • Married with 2 children (both attended S&P – 1 still does)
  • Lives in State College
  • Graduated from Slippery Rock University with a BS in Math and a Masters in Secondary
  • I enjoy fitness and reading for pleasure in my free time.
  • Member of State College Presbyterian Church.
  • “I’m very excited to be working with the Tiny Tots, especially since I no longer have a tiny tot of my own. It is so fun to see the children learn and grow.”

Chrissy Fritton – Assistant teacher (M,W,F)

  • Married with one daughter (who attends Stay and Play)
  • Lives in State College
  • Graduated from Penn State with a degree in recreation park management – therapeutic recreation.
  • Avid runner, volleyball player, sports and fitness enthusiast.
  • Big animal lover – also a mom of 2 dogs and 2 cats.
  • “I love watching the children develop and form special bonds with them!”

Sarah Cooper – Assistant teacher (T, Th)

  • Married with 2 children (a son in elementary and a daughter attending Stay and Play)
  • Lives in State College
  • B.S. in Elementary Education from The University of Iowa

  • Have 2 daughters who make up my social life – one in college the other in High School
  • Bachelors in Child Development
  • Grew up & lives in State College
  • Lived in Puerto Rico and worked in preschool there prior to returning to State College
  • This is her 8th year working at Stay and Play

Laura Steager – Director

  • 10th year as Director of Stay and Play
  • Married with a son in college at PSU Main campus
  • Live in Port Matilda
  • Bachelors in Psychology – Muskingum College
  • Spent my whole life working with children in some fashion
  • ” I am so lucky to work with such a wonderful team: staff, parents and the children.  I love my job and feel truly blessed to be part of this program.”



Alanna Leicht – Music Teacher (Taking 2017-2018 off for family trip to England)

  • Married with 2 children: ages, 6 & 7
  • Lives in State College.
  • Has worked as a teacher for both the 3’s & 4’s classes at Stay and Play in the past.
  • Elementary Ed. degree and loves teaching music!



Paul Kim – Music Teacher for 2017-2018

  • Married with a daughter who went through Stay and Play and is now entering kindergarten
  • Lives in State College
  • Bachelor’s from Berklee College of Music
  • Teaches cello and early-childhood music classes in State College
